Preparation Note

Uridine 5′-(trihydrogen diphosphate) sodium or UDP sodium salt is soluble in water at 100 mg/ml and yields a clear, colorless to very faint yellow solution.

Application

UDP has been used as a purinergic agonist to study its effects on absorptive cationic flux in cochlear outer sulcus cells (OSC) and vestibular transitional cells (VTC)1. UDP has also been used for nucleoside diphosphatase (NDPase) activity assays in rabbit retinae2.
